Week Beginning 23.09.2013

The children in F1X learned more about Farm Animals this week. We have turned our role play area into a lovely farm! The children have been busy naming the different animals such as horse, cow, sheep, cat, dog, pig and duck. They have been making animal sounds as well. Most of the children enjoyed tidying the farm using the rakes whilst others were busy feeding the animals. All the children did a great job this week. Well done F1X! :)

Moon Festival Celebration

EYFS team had our first parade and performance last Thursday to celebrate Moon Festival. All the children were fanstatic! Everyone was also impressed at how F1 children confidently paraded and sat beautifully during the whole programme. This week, we have been using the dragon costume and dancing around the classroom. Some played the drums and made music and some used the dragon costume. The children also decorated their fantastic lanterns which we put up in the foyer for everyone to see. Whilst we have been celebrating Moon Festival this week, the children have also shown great interest in animals. We have put out animal costumes and masks in the Role-play area which they enjoyed wearing in class. In line with this interest, we will be focusing more on Farm Animals next week. We are sure that this will be a great theme and that the children will do amazing!

Here are some photographs from this week.

You are all invited!

Week 3 in F1X

F1X children have been busy engaging in various tasks in the classroom. This week, they particularly showed interest in zoo animals and the sound each animal makes. The children have been pretending to be tigers, lions, crocodiles and elephants. Most of them are making really good impressions of these animals.

We also celebrated Emily's 3rd birthday on Monday. We all sang the birthday song for her and she had a go at blowing her candle. Everyone had a small piece of cake at snack time which was lovely!

During our carpet sessions, we have been singing animal songs such as 'A Tiny Crab' and 'Teasing Mr Crocodile'. We also played the 'Animal Symphony' story using the interactive white boad.

It has been a busy week for the children. They all deserve a good rest over the weekend. Well done F1X!

Week 2 in F1X Unit

It was a wonderful week 2 in F1X unit. The children were happier and more settled this week. They have been exploring the classroom, the Fundino playground and the soft-play room with so much interest and curiosity.

This week, we had a chance to play with the sand and animals in the tuff spot, paint and make collages in the workshop area, cook and take care of the babies in the role-play area. The children also helped Ms Precious make blue and pink play dough and they made them into cakes and pizzas! The soft play room and the outdoor playground have also been very popular this week!

Well done children for a yet another fun-filled week!

Upcoming Events:

Monday and Tuesday 16th and 17th September from 1.30pm-3.00pm - Parent-Teacher Meetings

Each parent will be given 10 minutes to see the class  teachers to discuss about the child's progress during the settling in period. A sign-up sheet will be posted on our F1 board.

Thursday 19th September - EYFS Moon Festival Celebration

Children should come in school wearing their Vietnamese traditional clothes- Ao Dai. More details to follow.

Reminders:

- All children should bring in their water bottles in school. We want to lessen the use of plastic cups to help our environment.

- Please bring an extra pair of clothes in case of any toilet accidents.

- We would like to request parents and carers to say goodbye to the children when they arrive in class and wait in the foyer until home time. We will update you about your child once in a while but please do not peek at the classroom window as this unsettles the child more. We are in our settling stage and we would like to create good relationships with the children and establish a secure and happy environment for all of them.

We do hope for your utmost understanding and consideration on this matter.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kind Regards,

Ms Crislet, Ms Precious and the F1 Team

Making playdough

This week, we have decided to make our play dough in F1X. The children took turns in scooping flour, squeezing the food colour, pouring the mixture from the jug to the tub, mixing the ingredients and lots of kneading. When we finished, the children pretended to make food such as cake, pizza and chocolate! Emily said 'Yummy!'. What a fantastic job!
