This week, we focused on learning about zoo animals. The children engaged in various activities such as being zookeepers in our role play area, reading fiction and non fiction books about animals, colouring zoo animal photos, making arts and crafts in our workshop area and sorting animals in the Maths area. They have been making lots of different animal noises too! But most of all, they enjoyed our face painting activity where we decorated our faces with animals, superheroes and fairies.
On Tuesday, Vets from Animal Rescue and Care visited our class. They learned about taking care of the animals, particularly a cat. The children were all thrilled to give the cat a gentle pat. Thank you to Dr Nghia and the rest of the ARC staff.
In our circle sessions, we have been reading books about zoo animals such as Elmer the Elephant, Dear Zoo and Animals In The Jungle.
At the moment, the children are becoming more confident in using the English language. They have been responding in one to two words, short phrases and some in sentences. The children also continue to learn our key vocabulary in the classroom such as good morning, good bye, please, thank you, my turn, your turn, sharing, and gentle hands. Their listening skills have also improved as they are now more familiar with our regular routine.
Next week, we will continue to focus on zoo animals as we are looking at visiting the Saigon Zoo. How exciting! All the children did a fantastic job this week. Well done!
Have a restful weekend,
Ms Precious, Ms Crislet and the F1X team
