A Busy Week for the Penguins

This week was such a busy week for the penguins of F1X!  Most of the week was spent practising and rehearsing for the EYFS End of Year Performance which happened on Thursday (29th of May).  For 2 days, the F1 penguins went up to the gym, patiently waited for their turn on stage, and practised their awesome singing and fantastic dancing.  The F1X team is very impressed and pleased with how our children did so well not only in practising but also in waiting patiently during the practises.  After the practise, Ms. Crislet gave everyone stamps for a job well done.  Excellent, children of F1X!

Back in the classroom, the children have been busy exploring different learning areas.  The most popular areas this week were the Soft Play Room and the Workshop Area.  Children have been busy at the Workshop Area making some yummy pizza pies!  They painted a paper plate with a nice red colour just like a pizza sauce, let it dry, spread glue all over it; and put some cut paper and yarn as toppings (pineapple, ham, bell pepper, and cheese).  The children did so well in this activity and they were all proud of their finished products!

This week, the children also enjoyed watching short films about our theme, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".  On Tuesday, the children watched an animated version of the book--where they saw the same characters on the book moving onto their bear hunt.  The next day, they watched the book's author Michael Rosen's animated narration of the book.  The children absolutely loved these short films and they were singing along the narrations!

Thursday was the most-awaited day for our penguins--the EYFS End of Year Performance!  The children surprised their mummies and daddies in the gym wearing their adorable penguin costumes.  They all did a fantastic job singing "Animals Great and Small" together with the other EYFS children.  The best part was when they waddled and shook their bottoms during the penguin dance; and also when they impressed the audience dancing to "Crocodile Rock".  It was really such a terrific and awesome day for everyone!

Well done to all the F1X children for being wonderful this week!  Thank you parents for showing your great support in the EYFS End of Year Performance.  The children were very happy to see their mummies and daddies watch them whilst they performed on stage.

End of Year Celebration - Preparations and a New Theme!

We have been busy this week preparing for our performance for the EYFS End of Year Celebration next week.  For the past few days, the children have been practising their beautiful singing and impressive dancing.  We are all so excited to sing and dance in front of the mummies and daddies next week!

We welcomed our children this week with a new theme based on the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen.  This story is about a family's very exciting adventure looking for a bear.  We turned different learning areas in the classroom into the different places that are in the story.  On Thursday, Ms. Precious read the story once more, went around the classroom with the children, and had a very exciting and fun bear hunt.  The children were so good in doing the different actions in the book.  When they finally saw the bear in the cave, a lot of them screamed of excitement and delight!

This week, we have also been focusing on painting activities at the Workshop Area.  The children have been making some beautiful yellow flowers using paintbrushes and forks.  The F1X team is also very happy to see that most of our children are enjoying creative activities like this and we shall be doing more in the coming weeks.

Fun with Doughs, the Parachute, and More!

The Malleable Area was such a busy area this week!  On Monday, the children made some nice and soft blue playdough.  F1X children poured the ingredients in the bowl and nicely took turns in mixing them together.  When the dough was made, they also had a go at kneading.  They enjoyed tapping, rolling, squeezing, and moulding the playdough into different shapes. Some also thought that the playdough looked like cake and said--"Yummy in my tummy!".

Another thing that we made at the Malleable Area was a quicksand dough.  It was our first time to make quicksand dough in class using cornflour, play sand, water, and some food colour.  The children really found its gooey texture interesting!

The Malleable Area is a very good area that practises children's fine motor skills through different hand movements such as squeezing, rolling, tapping, and moulding.  When children join in making different kinds of dough, they also practise their counting, measuring, and communication skills.  With all these, the F1X team is truly happy that all our children love the Malleable Area!

Splashpool sessions this week are still a big hit for the children!  We are very happy that most children are now very confident in the splashpool and are also enjoying their time using different kinds of splashpool toys.  This for sure will keep on improving their gross motor skills!

We are very pleased that our new children in F1X have been settling in well in class and have also been participating in our different activities and routines.  Most of the new children have already started going to the splashpool and also to the music room to see Mr. Robbie.  Well done to our new children!

This week, the children also enjoyed music time with Mr. Robbie as they were able to have a chance to play the drums for a longer time.  They have also been learning a new song that will be sung in front of mummies and daddies soon!

The children also had some fun in a different outdoor venue this week--the foyer!  On Wednesday, Ms. Crislet took the children out to the foyer for Circle Time to play with the parachute. Everyone was so happy and giggly to be playing with the very large parachute.  We sang songs, made a very big circle, and also made a ball roll over the parachute.  It was such a fantastic Circle Time!

This week, Ms. Precious and Ms. Tam read the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".  This story is about a family's exciting adventure looking for a bear.  Next week, the children shall be enjoying new activities and a new Role-Play Area with this theme.  We shall be having our very own bear hunt soon!  How exciting! ^_^

REMINDERS:

  • Please return library folders ON/OR BEFORE WEDNESDAY MORNING so your child can continue borrowing a library book on that day.

Well done to all our children for being wonderful and fantastic this week!  You all deserve an amazing weekend!  :)  See you next week!

Sincerely,

Ms. Clarissa, Ms. Crislet, Ms. Precious, and the rest of the F1X Team

What an Active Week!

F1X had such a terrific active week!  We still have the Goldilocks and the Three Bears theme in our class, as the children continuously use size vocabulary such as big, medium, and small in their speaking.  Most of them have also been learning and using new size words such as long, short, and tiny.  The F1X team is very delighted to see most of the children continuously improve their communication and social skills as we go through the weeks of this last term.

The computer pods at the new ICT learning area have been extremely popular amongst our children.  They have been nicely taking turns in using them to play educational games, watch videos of nursery rhymes, and also sing together.  This also gives them a way to learn the basic functions of computer parts such as the mouse, the screen, and the keyboard.  Mouse-clicking skills are also being learnt and practised.  Above all these, they develop good social skills through sharing, taking turns, and doing activities together.

The Construction Area and the Soft Play Room were also popular this week.  At the Construction Area, children have been enjoying making high and low towers alongside big and small houses.

The children still love singing to the song "Come On! Clap your hands!" in the Soft Play Room as they run and jump around with their friends.  Recently, they have also been crawling around whilst making animal sounds--they have been pretending to be tigers, bears, lions, dinosaurs, and cats.  This just shows how creative and imaginative our children are!

With the sun always shining so brightly these days, the children have recently been looking forward to splashpool time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We are pleased to see that most children have their swimming bags with them on these days.  This week, the children showed really nice kicking and gliding in the splashpool.  They have also been showing great pouring skills as they play with buckets and bottles.  Their fine motor skills are also practised through squeezing sponges.  There is just so much fun and learning in the splashpool!

For this week's library time, the story There's a Monster Who Eats Books in Our House by Sally Grindley was read to the children using a giant storybook which the children absolutely loved.  The story was about a boy looking for a monster who has been eating his books at home.  With this story, the children learnt that books are not only to be read but also to be taken care of--not to be torn, broken, and most especially, not to be eaten! :)

It was another active and fantastic week for everyone at F1X!  Thumbs up for all our children for being good and active learners this week!

Thank you for your support and we all wish you a lovely weekend! :)

A FEW REMINDERS:
  • Splashpool time is on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS.  Please bring your child's swimming bag complete with his/her SWIMSUIT and TOWEL.
  • You may wish to put sunscreen on your child's body and face before going to school on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS to avoid sunburn.

Kind Regards,

Ms Clarissa, Ms Crislet, Ms Precious, and the rest of the F1X team
