What an Eventful Week

F1X class just keeps on getting bigger and bigger!  This week, we welcomed another new child to our class--Zillin from China!  Welcome to Zillin's family and we hope Zillin would soon settle in and also enjoy our fun-filled learning days here at F1X!

Tuesday was our most eventful day this week.  The school turned all nice and green with children, teachers, staff, and even some parents wearing green clothes.  Some children even came to class wearing some recycled accessories; and some also brought some charming recycled ornaments.

To celebrate Green Day, we watered our blooming class plants during Hello Time at the Soft Play Room.  Everyone was delighted to see that our class plants' flowers have bloomed!  Our learning areas turned green too.  The children made some green playdough at the Malleable Area, did some nice leaf printing at the Mark-Making Area, and had some sensory play with oats at the Investigation Area.

The busiest was the Workshop Area.  At 10 in the morning, the children from Ms. Chloe's F3 class came to F1 to join in the different workshop activities.  Together, F1 and F3 children used junk materials to make some hats, accessories, and skirts which they all enjoyed!  Thank you parents for bringing in some junk materials last week.  This has surely taught our children that we could make nice and good things from recycling.  Thank you for supporting Green Day!

On Wednesday, the children had a go at making some warm and yummy porridge--just like in the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story!  In between library times, groups of children went to the Snack Bar and had a small bowl which was filled with healthy oats, some sugar, hot water, and milk.  The children mixed their porridge nicely and waited a little bit so the porridge will be just right and not too hot. The children were truly happy to have a little yummy treat before they went for a very active and fun time in the Soft Play Room.

On Thursday, the children started making bears out of paper plates at the Workshop Area.  Each child created a bear's face by painting the paper plates with brown watercolour, and by sticking googly eyes, pompoms, and paper cut-outs on the plate.  The children were so happy and amazed to have made bears.

This week was ended with a celebration of Seven's birthday.  Seven's daddy brought a large and delicious cake which everyone enjoyed during snack time.  There were also small treats for the children to bring home with them.  Happy birthday, Seven! :)  Thank you to Seven's mummy and daddy for the cakes too!
Happy Birthday, Seven!
We are very happy that the children are now starting to use the words small, medium, and big in their vocabulary.  Since we started the Goldilocks and the Three Bears theme, children have been trying to describe similar things according to their size.  This shows not only an improvement in their Mathematics skills but also in their Communication and Language skills!  Most of them have also been going to the Reading Area more often to browse through their favourite books and also tell stories with each other.  The children have also been enjoying more singing as we now sing more songs during Hello Time and play time.  Some of their favourite songs are "5 Currant Buns", "5 Little Monkeys", and "Wind the Bobbin Up".

Reading and learning together at the Reading Area
As our class has been becoming bigger, we have added computer pods to enhance the ICT learning area.  With the computers, children are able to improve their mouse-clicking skills, play educational games, and also watch and listen to some videos.  The children have also been practising their pre-writing skills by tracing patterns available at the Mark-Making Area.  The fun and learning in F1X has just become bigger and better too!

Well done to all our children for being great in school this week!  They all deserve a nice and restful weekend!  :)

Welcome back everybody!

We would like to welcome you all back from our holiday. We hope you all had an  enjoyable and restful Easter break.

We would also like to welcome our new families in F1X- Eine, Pristine, Xuan Mai, Tony, David and Marcus. We hope you have many fun-filled days with us :)

As we have more friends in F1X this term, we have now been saying hello in the soft play room. We have been singing lots of songs such as Mr Crocodile, Little Peter Rabbit, Old Mc Donald and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

This week, the children showed interest in the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have turned our role play area into the bears' house. Some children are wearing We have been talking about sizes too such as small, medium and large.

The soft room was popular this week  as well. The children have been dancing to the music 'C'mon! Clap your hands!' They have been stomping like elephants, jumping like kangaroo and flying like an eagle.

We are also pleased to see that most of the children are now more confident in the splashpool. They are good in moving their arms and legs to swim.

In the coming weeks, we will continue to focus on our theme Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Have a great weekend! :)

Last year's Poetry Recital winners

We need your help with this. Here is your challenge - please write a poem with a 'green theme'. It just needs to be 4 or 8 lines long and has to rhyme too.

This competition is open to everyone; students, teachers, staff, parents... anyone connected to TX!

The best poems will be performed in the Green Day assembly by the children from each year group who do the best recital.

Any questions, please ask your class teacher or the EAL Department, thank you - and may the Green be with you..!
