What a Magical Week in F1!
What a fantastic week we've had in f1X! We have made potions, cast spells and held a royal ball to celebrate our prince and princess theme. Today on our royal ball, All the children came in wearing their prince and princess costumes and they looked absolutely amazing! All the teachers dressed up too as Princesses. We were very fortunate to have the presence of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Sofia the first, Ariel and Belle. King of Hearts (Mr Ian), Queen Sue, Prince john and Princess Chloe also visited us and joined in the festivities. We had a royal buffet and shared popcorn, crisps and cupcakes with everybody. Lan also celebrated his 3rd birthday and mum and dad brought in a train cake. It was indeed a magical day!

What we have been doing this week
We are pleased to see how our children in F1X are
developing their speaking skills and vocabulary as we continue to focus on
princes and princesses theme this week.
On Monday, we talked about the movie Frozen. Some children are familiar with the songs ‘Let It Go’
and ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’ They have been doing some amazing singing
in the morning and in the afternoon as well! Emily and Hannah are also familiar
with the lines of the characters in the story and they often engage in pretend
play.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, we focused on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The children are learning lots of
new vocabulary. We are also encouraging them to repeat phrases such as ‘Mirror
Mirror on the wall. Who’s the fairest of them all?’
On Thursday and Friday, we looked at Cinderella. Linh Lan said ‘I don’t like them!’ pointing to
Cinderella’s evil sisters. We watched the movie and talked about how she was
treated by her sisters and step mother.
Alongside our focus stories, we have been doing lots of
activities in the different learning areas. In Maths, we continue to focus on
shapes. In our Investigation area, the children
have been making potions and casting spells. In our Workshop area, the
children are developing their fine motor skills through our peel and stick
activities. We have decorated magic mirrors, Cinderella’s shoes, fairy wands and swords. In our Mark Making area, they have been learning how to handle a variety of mark making tools and colour different characters.
It has been another busy week, full of learning and new
experiences! Well done to all our children J

Games, Princes, Princesses and MORE!
What an exciting week we've had in F1X! Our week started off by giving the children a surprise role play area. They were all in awe when they came in and saw the castle, the frozen bridge and the lovely princesses around the classroom. The children have been wearing the costumes, sitting on the thrones and pretending to be princes, princesses, kings and queens. In the workshop area, they have made crowns which they also used in their role play. We also had a visit from Princess Clarissa and she came in wearing a pretty sparkly dress! She was so friendly that the children had a chance to shake her hands! Thank you Princess Clarissa for visiting our castle! It's a shame fairy godmother only let you visit us for a short time!
In other learning areas this week, we have been mark-making using paintbrushes on shaving foam and glitter. We have also changed our set of books in the reading area. We have different stories about witches, princes and princesses and the children have been enjoying at browsing through them. In our Mathematics area, we have been focusing on basic shapes. The children are being encouraged to name and sort shapes in to different baskets. Lastly, our investigation area focuses on making potions and playing with glittered play dough.
Last Wednesday, we had our EYFS Activity Day. We had loads of fun playing a wide range of physical activities such as javelin, egg and spoon race, obstacle course, hurdles, balancing beams, football and throwing beanbags on hoops and rings. The children participated really well and we appreciate all their carers for joining in too.
Some Reminders:
- Please always check your child's cubby hole for letters. We will put any letter in it to ensure that everybody receives them.
- Swimming is every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has a swimming suit and a towel in his/her swimming kit, properly labelled.
- Library folders should be given back to us before Wednesday of each week for our next library session.
- A questionnaire has been given out today. Please fill it up and give it back to us by next week.
- For those children who took part in the Activity Day, we have given each of them a certificate and an effort ribbon. Both are in your child's bag.
Thank you very much!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Kind regards,
Ms Crislet, Ms Precious and the F1 Team

What a busy week we had!
This week, the children continued to do different activities related to our zoo theme. In the workshop area, they have been learning how to use the scissors as they cut around plates to make a snake. In our Maths area, the children have been sorting animals and using animal peg puzzles. Most of the children also showed interest in shapes. They have been threading shapes and wearing them afterwards as a 'necklace' or 'bag'. Our investigation area is a popular one for the children too as we have added lots of new resources such as the light box with discovery bottles, smelling bottles, binoculars and a lot more. The children are learning to take turns in using these resources.
In our carpet sessions, we focused on learning a new song called 'Wind The Bobbin Up'. The children very quickly learned the words and actions! We have a also been playing a game called Spin The Bottle where children had a go at naming the different zoo animals and their sounds. Eason also turned 3 this week and we all shared his delicious cake!
Well done to all our children for doing a great job this week!
