F1X's Fantastic Last Week

F1X's last week was such a busy yet very fantastic week for everyone!

On Monday during music time, the children learnt a new song from Mr. Robbie--"Walking in the Jungle".  The children watched a video clip of the song during music time and happily sang along with it.  Back in the classroom, the children sang the song again and did the song actions.  The children walked, stomped, skipped, and jumped all around the classroom just like how they would in the jungle.  Awesome job, F1X children!

Tuesday was moving-up day and was spent learning about the children's new classroom and new teachers for the coming school year.  For an hour during the morning, most children in F1X went to the F2 classroom to learn more about their new classroom and new teachers.  Children who went to the F2 classroom spent a great time knowing Ms. Grace, Ms. Gurvinder, Ms. Nhat, Ms. Thuy, and Ms. Tu.  They also enjoyed playing in the different learning areas of the F2 classroom.  Meanwhile, children who are still staying in F1 next school year stayed in the F1 classroom with Ms. Crislet, Ms. Precious, Ms. Thuy, Ms. Trinh, and Ms. Hoang.  They all had a fun time playing the parachute game.

Wednesday was the EYFS party at the gym.  Together with the F2 and F3 children, the F1X children spent an hour of fun and games.  The gym was filled with activities for the children--face painting, basketball, pass-the-ball, musical statues, and crown-making.  We are very pleased to have seen all the children truly have a wonderful time as they went around the gym and played with their friends from F2 and F3.

Thursday was the most fun day for all of us--the year-end party!  Everyone came in their party clothes and brought yummy plates of food which everyone enjoyed.  After enjoying all the yummy food, children had a fantastic time playing musical statues.  They were all so good at it that it took us time to choose a winner!  Thank you mummies and daddies for the food that you shared for our year-end party!

It has been truly an amazing year of fun and learning for all of us in F1X!  We are all very thankful for your support in all our activities throughout the year.  We are all very excited for your child to move-up in F2 next year and we are sure that they will just be as fantastic and great as they were in F1!

Have a terrific summer holiday everyone!

Sincerely,

Ms. Crislet, Ms. Precious, Ms. Clarissa, and the Rest of the F1X Team

F1's End of Year Party

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

You might have been hearing your child singing a new song recently--"Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" from the classic story The Three Little Pigs, which is our new focus theme.  This story is about the very fun adventure of three little pigs in building houses and running away from the big bad wolf.  Over the past few days, the teachers of F1X have been narrating the story to the children; and the children have been actively participating in story time through listening and reciting some words from the story.  This shows that most of our children's communication and language skills have really significantly improved over the school year.  Very impressive, F1X children!

Our children have been all around the different learning areas this week.  At the Workshop Area, we built three houses just like what the three little pigs built!  We built a house made of straws, sticks, and bricks!  After the houses were built, they played with it alongside our little toy pigs and the wolf puppet.  It is such a delight to see our children retell the story on their own using these toys.

The Malleable Area was also such a favourite this week!  We made really nice and soft yellow playdough which the children enjoyed moulding.  They have been making some pancakes, sushi, noodles, ice cream, and also bananas!  We have also been learning key vocabulary words in the Malleable Area such as tapping, rolling, pounding, and squeezing.

The Construction Area has also been very popular.  Children have been using different toys to create a variety of things.  They have been mostly creating animals such as horses, dinosaurs, elephants, and cows.  A lot of them are also still creating big houses for their mummies and daddies.  Well done F1X for being so creative!

Fun and learning was also outside the classroom.  They really loved the water tray and the sandpit at the Fundino Playground this week!  The water tray was filled with soapy water, sponges, and small vehicles whilst the sandpit had diggers, the cement mixer, and trucks.  The children have been improving their social skills through group play, learning basic measurements through filling, pouring, and scooping; and also making their motor skills even better through climbing up and down, jumping, and running.  The Fundino Playground is really such a great place for fun and learning!

Well done children for a yet another great week in F1X!

F1's Outdoor Fun

This week has been an absolutely fun week for F1X!  With most of the children making a transition to F2 soon, we have been starting to introduce new activities for F1 children which they will be doing more in F2.  This week, our children had a lot more of outdoor fun at the BIG PLAYGROUND!

On Tuesday, F1 children had their first go as a class at the big playground--where usually only bigger children play at.  The children were so excited to go out to the big playground where there is much bigger space to run around and chase each other.

The first activity that we did was football.  The children were divided into two groups for each of the 2 goals in the playground. Eeach child was given at least one chance to kick the ball towards the goal.  Everyone was so excited and happy that they were all cheering and clapping whenever the ball goes in the goal.  The F1X team is also very pleased to share that most of our children's gross motor skills are very impressive!  Well done, F1 children!

Another activity that we did at the big playground was riding bikes.  The children were so excited when the teachers brought the bikes out, and they were all so eager to ride.  The children took turns in riding the bike, and also in riding at the back.  Some children also had fun pushing the bikes.  Once again, these showcased the F1 children's very impressive gross motor skills!  Good job, F1 children!

We ended this week with a very lovely celebration of Michelle and Olivia's 3rd birthday!  The twins came to school wearing beautiful princess dresses and tiaras. F1X children all happily sang them the Happy Birthday song and enjoyed the very delicious cake Michelle and Olivia's mummy brought today in class.  Happy Birthday, Michelle and Olivia!  Thank you mummy for the yummy cake!

We Went On A Bear Hunt Again!

This week has been a fun and exciting week in F1! We have set up the scenes of the story 'We're going on a Bear Hunt' in the investigation area.  We had different trays with grass, water, wet sand, plants and a cave with a great surprise inside! A BEAR with 1 shiny wet nose, 2 big furry ears and 2 goggly eyes!

The children played with the family puppets and it was amazing how well they remembered the different lines from the story and even sang them whilst playing!

'Were Going On A Bear Hunt' is still a favourite story in the reading area. They enjoy looking at the pictures and doing the actions for 'over it'. 'under it' and 'through it'.

In the workshop area, we have made grass by snipping green paper. The children showed great confidence in using the scissors and with just minimal support, most of them were able to cut successfully.

In the mark-making area, we have been copying pictures of the wavy grass, the deep cold river, the thick oozy mud, the dark forest, the swirling whirling snowstorm and the narrow gloomy cave! The children used the markers to make circles and lines to represent these.

Last Tuesday, Ms Crislet showed the children a Powerpoint Presentation of We're Going on a Bear Hunt' with vocabulary words and animated pictures. The children were very participative all throughout the group session.

Next week, we will continue with this theme and will be doing more fun activities to enhance the children's learning.

-------

One happy note: Two new friends joined us this week. We would like to welcome Carrie and Lucas in F1! We hope that you both continue to enjoy your days with us!

-------

Some Reminders:

-Please don't forget to bring your child's swimming kit every Tuesdays and Thursdays.
-Library book should be returned by Tuesday.

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Busy Week for the Penguins

This week was such a busy week for the penguins of F1X!  Most of the week was spent practising and rehearsing for the EYFS End of Year Performance which happened on Thursday (29th of May).  For 2 days, the F1 penguins went up to the gym, patiently waited for their turn on stage, and practised their awesome singing and fantastic dancing.  The F1X team is very impressed and pleased with how our children did so well not only in practising but also in waiting patiently during the practises.  After the practise, Ms. Crislet gave everyone stamps for a job well done.  Excellent, children of F1X!

Back in the classroom, the children have been busy exploring different learning areas.  The most popular areas this week were the Soft Play Room and the Workshop Area.  Children have been busy at the Workshop Area making some yummy pizza pies!  They painted a paper plate with a nice red colour just like a pizza sauce, let it dry, spread glue all over it; and put some cut paper and yarn as toppings (pineapple, ham, bell pepper, and cheese).  The children did so well in this activity and they were all proud of their finished products!

This week, the children also enjoyed watching short films about our theme, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".  On Tuesday, the children watched an animated version of the book--where they saw the same characters on the book moving onto their bear hunt.  The next day, they watched the book's author Michael Rosen's animated narration of the book.  The children absolutely loved these short films and they were singing along the narrations!

Thursday was the most-awaited day for our penguins--the EYFS End of Year Performance!  The children surprised their mummies and daddies in the gym wearing their adorable penguin costumes.  They all did a fantastic job singing "Animals Great and Small" together with the other EYFS children.  The best part was when they waddled and shook their bottoms during the penguin dance; and also when they impressed the audience dancing to "Crocodile Rock".  It was really such a terrific and awesome day for everyone!

Well done to all the F1X children for being wonderful this week!  Thank you parents for showing your great support in the EYFS End of Year Performance.  The children were very happy to see their mummies and daddies watch them whilst they performed on stage.

End of Year Celebration - Preparations and a New Theme!

We have been busy this week preparing for our performance for the EYFS End of Year Celebration next week.  For the past few days, the children have been practising their beautiful singing and impressive dancing.  We are all so excited to sing and dance in front of the mummies and daddies next week!

We welcomed our children this week with a new theme based on the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen.  This story is about a family's very exciting adventure looking for a bear.  We turned different learning areas in the classroom into the different places that are in the story.  On Thursday, Ms. Precious read the story once more, went around the classroom with the children, and had a very exciting and fun bear hunt.  The children were so good in doing the different actions in the book.  When they finally saw the bear in the cave, a lot of them screamed of excitement and delight!

This week, we have also been focusing on painting activities at the Workshop Area.  The children have been making some beautiful yellow flowers using paintbrushes and forks.  The F1X team is also very happy to see that most of our children are enjoying creative activities like this and we shall be doing more in the coming weeks.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

Fun with Doughs, the Parachute, and More!

The Malleable Area was such a busy area this week!  On Monday, the children made some nice and soft blue playdough.  F1X children poured the ingredients in the bowl and nicely took turns in mixing them together.  When the dough was made, they also had a go at kneading.  They enjoyed tapping, rolling, squeezing, and moulding the playdough into different shapes. Some also thought that the playdough looked like cake and said--"Yummy in my tummy!".

Another thing that we made at the Malleable Area was a quicksand dough.  It was our first time to make quicksand dough in class using cornflour, play sand, water, and some food colour.  The children really found its gooey texture interesting!

The Malleable Area is a very good area that practises children's fine motor skills through different hand movements such as squeezing, rolling, tapping, and moulding.  When children join in making different kinds of dough, they also practise their counting, measuring, and communication skills.  With all these, the F1X team is truly happy that all our children love the Malleable Area!

Splashpool sessions this week are still a big hit for the children!  We are very happy that most children are now very confident in the splashpool and are also enjoying their time using different kinds of splashpool toys.  This for sure will keep on improving their gross motor skills!

We are very pleased that our new children in F1X have been settling in well in class and have also been participating in our different activities and routines.  Most of the new children have already started going to the splashpool and also to the music room to see Mr. Robbie.  Well done to our new children!

This week, the children also enjoyed music time with Mr. Robbie as they were able to have a chance to play the drums for a longer time.  They have also been learning a new song that will be sung in front of mummies and daddies soon!

The children also had some fun in a different outdoor venue this week--the foyer!  On Wednesday, Ms. Crislet took the children out to the foyer for Circle Time to play with the parachute. Everyone was so happy and giggly to be playing with the very large parachute.  We sang songs, made a very big circle, and also made a ball roll over the parachute.  It was such a fantastic Circle Time!

This week, Ms. Precious and Ms. Tam read the story "We're Going on a Bear Hunt".  This story is about a family's exciting adventure looking for a bear.  Next week, the children shall be enjoying new activities and a new Role-Play Area with this theme.  We shall be having our very own bear hunt soon!  How exciting! ^_^

REMINDERS:

  • Please return library folders ON/OR BEFORE WEDNESDAY MORNING so your child can continue borrowing a library book on that day.

Well done to all our children for being wonderful and fantastic this week!  You all deserve an amazing weekend!  :)  See you next week!

Sincerely,

Ms. Clarissa, Ms. Crislet, Ms. Precious, and the rest of the F1X Team
