Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

You might have been hearing your child singing a new song recently--"Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" from the classic story The Three Little Pigs, which is our new focus theme.  This story is about the very fun adventure of three little pigs in building houses and running away from the big bad wolf.  Over the past few days, the teachers of F1X have been narrating the story to the children; and the children have been actively participating in story time through listening and reciting some words from the story.  This shows that most of our children's communication and language skills have really significantly improved over the school year.  Very impressive, F1X children!

Our children have been all around the different learning areas this week.  At the Workshop Area, we built three houses just like what the three little pigs built!  We built a house made of straws, sticks, and bricks!  After the houses were built, they played with it alongside our little toy pigs and the wolf puppet.  It is such a delight to see our children retell the story on their own using these toys.

The Malleable Area was also such a favourite this week!  We made really nice and soft yellow playdough which the children enjoyed moulding.  They have been making some pancakes, sushi, noodles, ice cream, and also bananas!  We have also been learning key vocabulary words in the Malleable Area such as tapping, rolling, pounding, and squeezing.

The Construction Area has also been very popular.  Children have been using different toys to create a variety of things.  They have been mostly creating animals such as horses, dinosaurs, elephants, and cows.  A lot of them are also still creating big houses for their mummies and daddies.  Well done F1X for being so creative!

Fun and learning was also outside the classroom.  They really loved the water tray and the sandpit at the Fundino Playground this week!  The water tray was filled with soapy water, sponges, and small vehicles whilst the sandpit had diggers, the cement mixer, and trucks.  The children have been improving their social skills through group play, learning basic measurements through filling, pouring, and scooping; and also making their motor skills even better through climbing up and down, jumping, and running.  The Fundino Playground is really such a great place for fun and learning!

Well done children for a yet another great week in F1X!
